Ben Francisco had a monster game Sunday to give him a chance at Pac10Pro of the week. He had 2 HRs and 4 RBIs against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Trevor Hoffman has been rejuvenated in Milwaukee and has shown the dominance that has escaped him in recent years. Hoffman was a perfect 4-4 in save opportunities and didn't allow a batter to reach base.

Brian Bannister continues to be a solid performer for Kansas City. He pitched a solid game, but the defense and bullpen fell apart to lose the game.

Eric Byrnes (UCLA)
Arizona Diamondbacks
.261 Avg
3 Runs
1 HR
5 RBIs

Dustin Pedroia had a great week helping the Red Sox to a five wins in seven games during the week. Pedroia is a catalyst at the top of the Red Sox lineup and continues to impress following his MVP season. However, Pedroia left Sunday's game with a strained groin. Only time will tell how this will affect Pedroia and the Red Sox lineup.

After struggling for the beginning of the season, Eric Byrnes had a great weekend series against the Nationals. He had two hits in each of the three games and raised his season average .51 points over the weekend. It will be a great story if Byrnes can stay healthy and become once again a clutch hitter in the Diamondbacks lineup.

After beginning the season on the DL, Trevor Hoffman has come back strong. Hoffman is proving to himself and others that he can still close games. He has given the Brewers some veteran leadership in the bullpen and they are 4-0 through Sunday with him on the roster. Hoffman now has 557 career saves, increasing his own major league record.

Randy Johnson continues to dominate hitters after all these years. His win last week was his 297th career victory. Congrats to both Hoffman and Johnson for their consistency and we at Pac10Pros wish them continued success.

Chase Utley barely lost out to Bloomquist. Utley has continued his hot hitting and could be adding to the recent MVP history of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Congrats to Chase Utley for having a very impressive opening month to the baseball season. Chase is showing no signs of a World Series hangover, while proving he is one of the best hitters in the game today.
Coming in at a close second, Ethier has definitely given other teams second thoughts about pitching around Manny Ramirez. He has taken advantage of every opportunity and is off to a very productive 2009 season.
