Grant Seeing Green

Last night at approximately 11:58pm (2 minutes before the signing deadline), SS Grant Green officially started his career with the Oakland Athletics. In typical Scott Boras fashion (Green's "super-agent"), Green waited until the last minute to sign his contract, which definitely aided in his $2.75M signing bonus according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The former USC shortstop was the A's top pick in the 2009 MLB Draft at #13, which made him the 40th overall first-round selection for the Trojans. Green started 160 games for USC and recorded a .359 career average (231-644), which places him 6th on USC's all-time list. He also finished with a school record 20 triples.
