Touchdown Nullified...

Preseason is a time for role players to shine and that is exactly what RB Chauncey Washington was trying to do for the Jacksonville Jaguars last night on Monday Night Football. The Jaguars, coached by former USC Trojans All-American LB Jack Del Rio (he also played catcher on a USC baseball team that included Mark McGwire & Randy Johnson), traveled to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins.

Washington, who had been overshadowed by Reggie Bush and LenDale White at USC, had 4 carries for 9 yards to start off the second half before ripping off a beautiful 23 yard run for a touchdown! That TD celebration was put to a quick halt as holding was called, but he was still able to show his skills in a game situation. He finished with 5 carries for 12 yards. Fellow Jag, LB Thomas Williams, finished with 5 tackles, an NFL career best.

For the Dolphins, the 6-foot-5 WR Patrick Turner, turned in an impressive NFL-debut as he grabbed 3 balls for 33 yards, leading his team in both receptions and receiving yards.

In a low scoring affair, the Jags ended up losing to the Dolphins 9-12, settling for 3 FGs.
